awarefan only sets cookies that are strictly necessary or tied to your preferences. Here is the full list, what each is for and how long it lasts.

Strictly necessary

Required for the site to work: sign-in, security and real-time notifications. They do not need your consent and cannot be turned off.

af_access: Keeps your session signed in for secure requests.; 15 minutes
af_refresh: Automatically renews your session without signing in again.; 7 days
af_oauth_*: Secure sign-in through an external service (CSRF protection and redirect), for the duration of sign-in only.; 10 minutes
mercureAuthorization: Authorizes delivery of real-time notifications.; 1 hour

Preferences

Remember your choices for your convenience. Your language is initialised from your browser and stays changeable; the others are set when you make the matching choice.

awarefan_theme: Remembers your light or dark theme.; 1 year
PARAGLIDE_LOCALE: Remembers your display language, initialised from your browser and changeable anytime.; 13 months
awarefan_cookie_notice: Remembers that you closed this information notice.; 1 year
awarefan_pwa_activation: Remembers that you closed the app install card.; 1 year
awarefan:recent-searches: Keeps your recent searches to suggest them again. Stored in your browser (local storage), never sent to our servers.; Until cleared
awarefan:auth-state: Flags whether you are signed in so your other open tabs update the menu after you log in or out. Stored in your browser (local storage), never sent to our servers.; Until cleared
awarefan:read-sources: Marks the source articles you have already opened so they show as read. Stored in your browser (local storage), never sent to our servers.; Until cleared
af_ref: Remembers who referred you to the waitlist, to credit them when you confirm your sign-up.; 30 days
af_channel: Remembers which channel brought you to the waitlist (tracker-free internal measurement).; 30 days

App storage

For offline use and speed, the installable version (PWA) keeps a copy of some files and data in your browser (CacheStorage). These are not cookies and nothing is sent to our servers: it all goes away if you clear the site cache or uninstall the app.

precache: App files (interface, offline page) for fast loading and access without a connection.; Until the app updates
af-artists: Recent artist page responses, for offline display.; 1 hour (up to 60 entries)
af-wiki-media: Wikipedia/Wikimedia images and extracts already shown.; 30 days (up to 200 entries)
