Releases of the week

Art rock releases, week 39

September 21 to September 27, 2026 · 30 releases

This week in art rock, new projects from U2 and Dolly Parton, a bold return by Protomartyr with Hotel Usona, and a sprawling 14-CD box set from Ween highlight a diverse wave of releases. Steven Wilson’s long-awaited return, David Bowie’s Metamorphoses 1, and a collaborative effort from Tom Morello, Serj Tankian, and Kneecap signal continued innovation across the genre. Meanwhile, reissues, live recordings, and reinterpretations, such as Gregory Douglass’s take on a Tori Amos classic and Toyah’s spirited cover of MC5’s Kick Out The Jams, reinforce art rock’s enduring spirit of reinvention.
