Synth-pop releases, week 42

This week’s synth-pop highlights include Justice composing a score for Grand Theft Auto VI with collaborations involving Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard, while Olivia Rodrigo and Chappell Roan unveil a new remix of 'Expectations' featuring a video starring David Byrne. Other notable releases span The Smashing Pumpkins’ 'Black Stars,' Robyn and Mechatok’s dual remixes, and Grimes’ 'Accelerando' from her AI-inspired but human-crafted album Psy Opera. Additional updates feature new work from Zara Larsson, Girl Ultra with Chromeo, and a tribute to The Human League on the 45th anniversary of 'Dare,' alongside archival releases and anniversary reflections across the genre.
