The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band continues to be recognized for its enduring influence in country and roots music, following the anniversary of the passing of a key outlaw country figure whose work was interpreted by artists including Bob Dylan, Willie Nelson, and the band itself. Recently, band member Jeff Hanna honored singer Meels by inviting her to perform at the Grand Ole Opry, marking her debut on the famed stage.
