Syd Barrett is being celebrated on the occasion of his 80th birthday with a tribute concert in Cambridge, a special exhibition of his iconic Madcap floorboards, and a tribute album featuring contributions from David Gilmour and other artists. These events highlight his lasting influence on rock music and the enduring legacy of his work with Pink Floyd and the psychedelic underground. The commemorations also reflect on his complex relationship with the band and the circumstances surrounding his departure from the music scene.
