Thelonious Monk is being celebrated on the occasion of his 109th birthday with a series of musical tributes, including live performances, reinterpretations by artists such as Max Roach, Wynton Marsalis, and Miles Okazaki’s solo guitar marathon of Monk’s entire catalog. Additional events highlight Monk’s legacy through collaborations across generations and geographies, from Paris to New York, and include new releases like the 2026 album Play Monk by [AHMED].
