Releases of the week

Alternative metal releases, week 36

August 31 to September 6, 2026 · 30 releases

This week in alternative metal, tributes and new chapters unfold as Bad Wolves reinterpret Dolly Parton's 'Jolene,' Mastodon announces their forthcoming album 'Marrow Deep' following the passing of Brent Hinds, and Polaris shares the introspective single 'Without You.' Artists like FEAR FACTORY, EVANESCENCE, and Doro Pesch deliver fresh performances and videos, while legacy acts such as KISS and System of a Down mark significant anniversaries. New solo projects from Mario Duplantier and Laurie Vincent, alongside reissues and live debuts from ANTHRAX and Beartooth, highlight the genre's dynamic range. Meanwhile, archival releases and collaborative efforts from bands like SiM and Stitched Up Heart underscore the genre's ongoing evolution.
